Absolicon production line for solar collectors use robots to automate the process that delivers one finished collector every six minutes. The solar collectors produce process heat to replace fossil fuel in industries. ABB and Absolicon have now agreed on collaboration in development, marketing and sales of the production line globally. The production lines will be equipped with ABB robots and be supported by the ABB global service network.
Absolicon Solar Collector has developed the T160 Solar collector, the leading concentrator for solar heat for industrial use. Absolicon works together with local production partners operating the robotized production line for low-cost mass production of solar collectors.
By producing a solar collector every six minutes, ABB’s robots make Absolicon solar technology a cost-effective alternative to conventional heating methods. The two companies are now strengthening the collaboration to involve a wide range of ABB technology into the production line.
“We are pleased that ABB’s robotic solutions improve the productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness of Absolicon’s production line and enable them to bring a renewable energy product to market at a competitive price,” said Sami Atiya, Head of ABB’s Robotics & Discrete business area Automation, in the press release announcing the collaboration of ABB and Absolicon.
“By helping Absolicon accelerate its production from three units per day to one every six minutes, our robotic solutions play a crucial role in accelerating the global transition to sustainable technology and ensuring that Absolicon’s manufacturing partners can consistently produce solar collectors globally.”
The newly entered collaboration also provides production partners of Absolicon the support of ABB global service network in operations of the Absolicon production line. ABB will also join Absolicon in sales and marketing of Absolicon solar technology.
“By developing an automated production process, we strengthen our global attractiveness as we can radically reduce the price of our solar collectors and at the same time manufacture them with consistently high quality. The productivity made possible by ABB’s robots means that we can enable solar energy to compete in terms of price with conventional methods for industrial heating for the first time” says Joakim Byström, CEO of Absolicon.
“Our new automated production line can manufacture a complete solar collector every six minutes. While our competitors rely on a manual intensive manufacturing process, we can do it with five people, two robots and a fraction of the components.”
ABB is a leading global technology company that drives the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive and sustainable future. By connecting software with products in electrification, robotics, automation and motion, ABB creates solutions that drive technology’s possibilities to new heights.
