Absolicon has now finished the production of a 100 m2 installation in Greece to the project CPV-Rankine. The aim of the project is to test the combination of concentrated solar cells (CPV) with operating a super critical organic rankine cycle turbine (ORC) using the excess heat.
-“ORC turbines to turn heat into electricity offer a very interesting opportunity for conversion of the heat from the solar collectors into electricity. The project will show the feasibility to combine PV and a turbine to double the electricity production from a CPV solar concentrator field” says Joakim Byström, CEO of Absolicon.
The project is finance by European Union’s Seventh Framework Program managed by REA-Research Executive Agency.
