2020-08-27

Absolicon has been selected as a show case of innovative Swedish sustainability technology and will participate in the Swedish delegation at the World Expo in Dubai, which has been postponed until 2021. Absolicon will demonstrate its solution by providing water and air heating to the Swedish pavilion 'The Forest’ throughout the exhibition period.

Just over half of the world’s energy demand is in the form of heat. The heat is used, among other things, to heat our homes and for industrial processes. Today, a large part of this heat is produced using fossil fuels with a large negative environmental impact as result. At the same time, energy consumption of the world is increasing rapidly as living standards improve for billions of people in developing countries. In order to ensure that they receive the same privileges as we have today, their energy needs must be met in a sustainable way.

Absolicon aims to be a leading part of the transition to renewable energy and a sustainable industry. The solar collector Absolicon T160 produces heat and steam with temperatures up to 160 C to industries and district heating directly from the sun.

During Dubai Expo 2020, Absolicon will provide the Swedish pavilion with its full heating needs. By integrating two storage tanks, solar heating will be used also during the hours the sun is down.

“It’s encouraging to be handpicked as one of the great sustainability innovations of our country and is a chance to show that we as a Swedish company are at the forefront of the development of solar thermal to real estate, district heating and industry. Our solar collector has, as the only small concentrating collector in the world, an optical efficiency of over 76%, which means that it can take advantage of a majority of solar radiation in an efficient and pass it on to various heating processes in houses and industries”, says Joakim Byström, CEO of Absolicon.
