Solgården – Swedish for sunny acres – is living up to its name and investing in energy from the sun. The solar energy installation from Absolicon was commissioned in July and produces both electricity and heat for the home for the elderly.
Solgården in Indal has accommodations for 58. The solar collector installation of 100 m2, along with a district heating installation, is just south of the home in a fenced area.
“A rule of thumb is that each apartment requires solar collectors of 2 m2, so the installation covers a large portion of the energy requirements,” says Johan Sandberg, president of Absolicon.
The client is the Municipality of Sundsvall, which has received a government solar electricity grant that covers 55 percent of installation costs.
